The IAOA Member's Blog

How to use the new IAOA Member's blog
by Francesca Quattri, Ali Hashemi, and Oliver Kutz

Hi!

With this post we want to further expand our online presence as Association by counting on the activation of its most valuable component: its members.

We want to spread the word on our initiative to other interested parties and allow them to join our online discussions.
We want to foster new ideas and open up to new perspectives.
And we think that a blog can give us the chance to do all this.

Despite this idealistic introduction, we are beginning our journey with very humble expectations.

For this first stage of development, which we will call "the pilot project" or the warming-up experience, we count on the people (around 14) who kindly took part to our online survey and offered their active participation in case a blog was created.

We will send them all a wake-up call, announcing that yes, we are here, and we need indeed their added value.

For those of you who are keen on editing and posting online: these few following lines should help you to understand how to better use the tools offered by Blogger.com

1. Blogger.com is an external blog provider but this should not intimidate you. You are at the right place: This is the official IAOA blog.
http://iaoablog.blogspot.com/

2. Once the invitation to participate will be send out to the Association members (or to selected members, or to volunteers, open question), each of them will receive a password and username, together with a brief reminder on policies and terms of use.

3. Once you have logged in, you can create and edit your posts (use the commands "Posts", above in orange).

4. You can then publish your posts or save them. If you want to know how a post will look like after publishing, or if you want to keep track of your work during the editing phase, you can click on "Preview" (above).

5. You can add different page elements to your post or to the blog, including pictures, HTML/Java scripts or links.

6. Participants to the survey have already agreed with actively moderating the comments. Comments can be open to "Anyone", "Only Registered Users" or "Only Members" of the blog. We should discuss the settings together.
